My name is Bethany Criswell and I am a member of the staff at Coston Funeral Homes, Inc. We have started a special Monthly Blog Series with our online community in hopes that we begin to interact with you more often. In the monthly blog series our goal is to share our ideas and help educate our consumers and to hear from you. Our first topic this month is Funeral's and the internet: Would you log on? As we strive to develop our website and add new features, we began studying online funerals. We want to hear from you as to whether or not you think online funerals is a good idea and more importantly, if you would log on to watch an online funeral. There are many pros and cons to this concept and I'd like to share a few with you. I'll start with the pros. Due to the increase in gas prices and air fare, many family members who live in other states are not able to attend funerals and would perhaps utilize this service to watch their loved ones funeral online. Now for the cons, in order to watch the funeral clear and crisp, most viewers would need high speed internet service to view the funerals in real time and this is something that we can't measure. Another issue is whether people at the funerals would mind being recorded and broadcast live on the internet. We also thought about the cost factor. Would our clients be willing to pay extra for this service and if so, how much? These are just a few concerns we have on our list. Let us know what you think. Would you log on for your loved ones funeral service during the day for an hour to watch the service?
